Counselling can help when things are difficult or change is needed. With14 years in private practice, I work in a positive, constructive and friendly way, helping you to process life events and find coping strategies so life feels better.

About my practice

I am a very experienced counsellor with an MSc in counselling from the University of Bristol and over 14 years post-qualifying experience, working full time. I work from a garden cabin in Bishopston and offer supportive counselling and coaching for when things are difficult or change is needed.

I work in a person-centred way, providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to explore and process your experiences. I help people feel heard and able to move forward with new perspectives and more hope.

I am a BACP Accredited counsellor. I am also a registered BUPA therapist.

I work with adults at all stages of life, helping manage anxiety and depression that may be linked to life transitions, workplace stress, family pressures, chronic illness, burnout, bereavement or early life experiences.

I often work with professionals juggling busy home lives with stressful jobs who may also be experiencing relationship issues, bereavement or illness and find life overwhelming.

I have worked with women going through life stages such as the perinatal period and menopause and have experience supporting people who are neurodiverse, in particular those who have or could have ADHD.

I work with professionals in Bristol, London and throughout the UK – many experiencing stress and burnout and contemplating new careers. I work with professionals from the NHS, lawyers, teachers and other professions who may be overwhelmed, anxious and considering how to be less impacted by their work.

In addition to integrative counselling, I offer CBT, EMDR, and coaching and can work both short-term and long-term.

Prior to working as a therapist I worked in refugee law for many years, representing asylum seekers in their court appeals and as a manager of others doing that work.

I have three teenage children so I understand the pressures of changing career and of juggling work and family life.

Counselling

I provide a safe and confidential space that allows you to explore life events, anxiety, low mood or anything that is making life challenging. I work in a supportive and person centred way, meaning that we work at your pace and meet your needs.

I offer both short term, time-limited counselling and long term, ongoing counselling.

I believe that the most important thing is relational depth and ensuring that there is trust and connection built up with every person.

I am trained in CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing), narrative therapy and trauma therapy.

I work differently with each person, depending on what they are bringing and what they would like to get from the therapeutic process.

Supervision of counsellors

I have been a qualified supervisor for over ten years and work both in-person and online with individuals and organisations in Bristol, London and across the UK.

I supervise those new to counselling and experienced therapists. I take a constructive and challenging approach to supervision, while also being encouraging and supportive. I work in an integrative way and am conscious of the importance of working ethically and safely and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of both the therapist and their clients.

I provide individual and group supervision and am trained as a reflective practice facilitator.

I work with organisations providing external supervision for their frontline workers. Due to my background working in refugee law, I continue to work supporting those in the charity field. I do external work for women's charities, refugee and trafficking organisations and homeless charities.

I also provide training for organisations in vicarious trauma and burnout.

ADHD support

I have many clients presenting with potential and diagnosed ADHD, seeking support.

I integrate CBT techniques, coaching techniques and look at the impact on daily life and self-esteem and how acceptance can be reached and new habits developed.

I integrate coaching techniques into my work, looking at how to overcome obstacles that may stop you reaching your goals.
